ARA 290, also known as cibinetide, is a synthetic peptide derived from a portion of erythropoietin, or EPO. It has been researched for its ability to activate the innate repair receptor, a receptor complex involved in cellular protection, inflammation regulation, and tissue recovery.
Unlike traditional EPO, ARA 290 was developed to provide tissue protective and anti inflammatory signaling without producing the same erythropoietic effect associated with increased red blood cell production.
Research involving ARA 290 has focused heavily on areas such as small fiber neuropathy, nerve injury, inflammatory conditions, neuropathic pain pathways, tissue repair, and metabolic complications involving nerve function. Studies have also explored its potential effects on inflammatory cytokines, nerve regeneration, and cellular recovery following injury or stress.
ARA 290 remains an investigational compound and has not been approved by the FDA for therapeutic use.
